DIY Christmas Wreath for Under $15

DIY Christmas WreathA DIY Christmas wreath is a simple and fun way to brighten up your home for the holidays.  My lovely wife, Helen, was able to create two custom wreaths to get the exact look she wanted for under $15 each.  She was able to score some great deals at Michaels during Black Friday and made each wreath in under 30 minutes.  She has become a festive wreath making pro (do I smell a side business getting ready to start?).

.

For each wreath she used the following from #Michaels: (The prices we listed below was the price per wreath we paid after Black Friday sales + coupons combined; the list prices on the hyperlinks may differ.  Make sure to use some coupons!).

  • 24″ white wreath on wire frame: $4.04
  • 16 ornaments from the 50ct Ornaments by Celebrate It: $3.37
  • 3 silver flowers/mini poinsettias: $0.74
  • Silver floral fillers: $0.55
  • Silver leaves: $0.74
  • 4 mini Christmas ornaments: $1.49
  • Ribbon (to hang the wreaths): $2.09

She also purchased a white flower for $1 from the Dollar Tree.

.

To create the wreath, she first used a glue gun to glue the three flowers evenly spaced apart.  Then, she filled in the spaces in between with the various ornaments.  Next, she filled in gaps with the filler flowers & leaves.  Instructions are sparse because the whole point of this is to customize it to fit your own décor needs and whatever color scheme/look you are going for.

commandhookHelen wanted to hang the wreaths outside our front doors.  We already had command hooks (turned upside down) stuck onto the interior side of our front doors for our fall wreaths (see pic of upside down command hook).  So we simply used the new ribbon we bought to loop around the wreaths and hooks, to hang over our doors to avoid having to add any nail holes & damaging the exteriors of our front doors.  We are very happy with our white, blue, silver themed wreaths as they really pop against our black front doors.

DIY Christmas Wreaths on Door

The nice part is, this wreath could be used anywhere you see fit inside/outside your home.  Plus, if you already have the ornaments, ribbons, decorative elements you like laying around in your closet, garage, or basement, this project can cost you next to nothing.

Onto the next festive project!  Please feel free to submit your custom wreath pics, ideas, and hacks our way, we would love to see them!
